MARA G. ASPINALL, PAST PRESIDENT GENZYME GENETICS
Mara Aspinall joined Genzyme in 1997. Most recently, she led the Genzyme Genetics business unit, which includes nine laboratories across the United States and operations in Japan. Prior to becoming president of Genzyme Genetics in 2001, Ms. Aspinall was president of Genzyme Pharmaceuticals. She has also served as Genzyme's vice president of corporate development. Before joining Genzyme, Ms. Aspinall was a director of client services at Hale and Dorr, LLC, and a senior consultant at Bain and Company. She has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Tufts University. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
PETER GETMAN, CEO MICROARTS CREATIVE AGENCY
Peter brings over 18 years of brand marketing communications and entrepreneurial experience to MicroArts. Founded in 1988, MicroArts Creative Agency is proven in go-to-market strategies specializing in launching and repositioning brands to capture new revenues. Mr. Getman was instrumental in growing MicroArts from a three-person team to an eighty-employee agency and facilitated MicroArts' acquisition in 2001 by a public corporation [MicroArts has been reacquired and is once again privately held]. Mr. Getman has presided over 300 brand launches since the inception of MicroArts. He earned his degree from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.
STEVE KOPPEL, FORMER PARTNER ACCENTURE
Steve Koppel retired in 2002 as a Partner with Accenture after spending twenty years working predominantly with Fortune 500 retailing companies. Koppel served as the Managing Partner of Accenture's Food Retailing Practice in North America, leading the development of strategic marketing initiatives for its global retailing practice. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees and leadership team of the Clinical Research Institute Initiative of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and is a board member at several other not-for-profit organizations across a variety of sectors including health care, education and social services. His activities include providing consulting services to start-up companies and not-for-profits, facilitating the creation of strategic partnerships, mentoring unemployed adults, assisting with the implementation of urban educational programs and tutoring low-income children. Koppel graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Computer Science, magna cum laude.
ANDY PALMER, CO-FOUNDER VERTICA SYSTEMS, INC.
With a track record of five successful startups including two IPOs in the past 15 years, Andy Palmer specializes in founding and accelerating the growth of world class startup companies. In early 2005, Andy and Dr. Michael Stonebraker co-founded Vertica Systems, a company that developed an innovative database engine specifically designed for data warehousing and cloud computing. Andy served as the CEO at Vertica as the company raised top tier financing (NEA, Kleiner Perkins, Highland Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners), hired a world class team from scratch and successfully launched the Vertica DB Engine into the $20B database market. Prior to co-founding Vertica, Andy served as a key member of the startup team and the Senior Vice President of Operations and CIO at Infinity Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: INFI). Additionally, Andy has held executive positions and was a member of the core startup teams at Bowstreet (acquired by IBM) and pcOrder.com (acquired by Trilogy post IPO). Andy earned his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and his undergraduate degrees from Bowdoin College. In addition to serving as an advisor at N-of-One, Andy currently serves as a Founding Board Member of the following innovative startups: Goby, Vertica Systems, VoltDB, CloudSwitch, and BlueFin Labs.
